Project brief: The Sandown Motor Holding Group acquired new premises to move their Mercedes-Benz Sandton dealership to. Arca was briefed to design a dealership for the new location - which was a newly built facility in the heart of Sandton - according to the latest Mercedes-Benz retail design, known as MAR2020. This retail concept is built on 4 principals: Architecture, Format, Media, People & Processes. Because the layout is designed around the customer journey and intends to lead customers into different mind states, it is crucial that the architects understand the processes and purpose of the new design. Project outcome: Because of its size, location and exciting prospects, Mercedes-Benz Sandton was chosen by Daimler AG as one of the Choice of Overseas Lighthouse projects. It offered the Choice of Overseas team the opportunity to resolve and refine design challenges with the Arca team, and this project is still used as best practice and blueprint for other MAR projects worldwide. Mercedes-Benz Sandton has become a landmark for Mercedes-Benz South Africa and Daimler AG, and the knowledge and skills of the Arca team was pivotal in the success of this project. They played a crucial part in the success story of this facility, and we look forward to changing more of Mercedes-Benz dealerships into retailers, where point of sale is turned into point of experience.
