The furniture available detracted from the high standard expected of Mercedes-Benz workshop environments and also created visual obstruction. The distribution of water, oil and air feeds often resulted in damage to vehicles and no provision was made for refuse separation or the washing of hands. The integration of technology was also required, whilst colours and finishes had to be updated. Working with Pandai, a modular range of components was developed, allowing for differentiation with regard to the requirements of passenger and commercial vehicle workshop environments. These modular units accommodate all requirements at counter height and lower to encourage visibility in the workshop. Air, water and oil feeds are now located for ease of use and to negate damage to vehicles. Hand wash basins are easily accessible and the installation of computer connection points allow for the integration of data and technology. Stainless steel work surfaces combined with powder-coated black carcasses create durable units that fit comfortably within the Mercedes-Benz visual language.
